History of the FLFA

The FLFA, (the Lebanese Federation of Football Association) was founded in 1933. Two years later, in 1935, it was affiliated to the FIFA (International Federation of Football Association). It was then affiliated in 1964 to the AFC (Asian Football Confederation).

Al Nahda is the Lebanese club that won the first season of the Lebanese football championship in 1933/1934. It also won the first championship for Lebanese clubs in 1938.

Al Ansar is the club that has won the biggest number of titles in the history of Lebanese football championship: 12 championships. It is followed by Homenetmen (7 victories), Al Nijmeh (7 victories), Al Nahda (5 victories), Homenmen (4 victories), American University (3 victories), Sikat El Hadid (3 victories), Racing Club (3 victories), Al Shabiba Mazraa (1 victory) and Olympic Beirut (1 victory).

As for the Lebanese Clubs Championship, Al Ansar is the top club with 9 championships against 5 for Al Nijmeh, 4 for al Nahda, 3 for Homenetmen, 2 for Helmi Sport, Al Shabiba Mazraa and Alsafa, 1 for Al Borj, Shabab el Sahel, Al Tadamon Sour and Olympic Beirut.
