Lebanese Football : More Than Just a Sport
By Sherif El Housseini, March 20, 2008

In the Cedar Land, soccer is more than just a simple sport. It used to be a source of comfort and hope for the Lebanese people during the worst civil war years. Amateurs as well as supporters considered the games as a means of relaxation and pleasure, especially in a daily life full of harsh battles and death.

Lebanese soccer deserves to be honored by getting back to its roots and history. This special document is dedicated to this sport and tackles many issues related to it. The greatest teams will be mentioned as well as their prize lists and their journey through time: we will talk about Ansar, Nejmeh, and many other unforgettable teams that still have a long future to make. Those regularly updated pages will focus on the most important players of these last decades, like: Jamal Taha, Mahmoud Hammoud, Fadi Allouch, and Ahmad al Sakr; this article is also an occasion to emphasize the political aspect of this national sport.
